Preschool Special Education Teacher

Department Preschool
Roles and responsibilities -Ensure health, safety & welfare of children.
-Plan and implement educational goals and objectives in the Educational Plan for each child assigned by planning and providing instruction on developmentally appropriate activities.
-Conduct formal and informal assessments for each student.
-Develop educational curriculum in conjunction with the Educational Plan
-Supervise, direct and evaluate classroom staff.
-Assist in training staff through hands-on training, observation and/or modeling teaching techniques.
-Serve as a member of interdisciplinary team and attend all meetings as directed.
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date records concerning each child in the classroom. Complete all required program and student documentation in a timely fashion.
-Communicate effectively and positively with parents and professionals.
-Maintain an orderly, clean and attractive classroom setting, including keeping equipment and materials in good condition and requesting repair or replacement when necessary.
-Seek professional growth by updating current knowledge, skills, and trends within the profession.
-Punctuality and regular attendance is expected.
-Maintain student/family confidentiality.
-Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.
-Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Skill set -NYS Certified Special Education Teacher (MUST HAVE Students with Disabilities Initial Birth-2)
MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE TO DOUGLASTON QUEENS
-Special Education experience required
-Experience with Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
-Able to run
-Able to safety assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20lb items
-Clearance through state mandated Background/Fingerprint Check
-Must be able to communicate effectively with others and individuals served
-Commitment to company values and adherence to policies
-Experience with birth to 13-year-old children with autism spectrum disorders


Job Specifics:

Hours/Shifts: 5 hours per week minimum (mostly 3:00pm-7:00pm, but can also include morning and midday for B-2 cerrtified)
