|Position Description||The IDEAL School of Manhattan is a growing school, adding one grade level every year until we reach 8th grade. We seek a science teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. |
Founded seven years ago as the first of its kind in NYC, The IDEAL School is an independent, non-profit, inclusion school. We are expanding each year and currently have 105 students. The school philosophy of social justice uses a co-teaching model to maintain small class sizes and to provide a rich and rigorous program. One special educator and one general educator collaborate on curriculum, instruction, and assessments as they create an Individual Learning Profile for every student in their class of 16.
Our unique mission of inclusion is on the cutting edge of educational practices. Families with children with special needs join our Zenith Program in which mainstreamed students receive related services throughout the school day during our “no pull-out” Elective Periods.
Requirements: We seek a high-energy, passionate, co-teacher for our 16 student inclusion class. Co-teachers have a strong ability to collaborate and to follow the design of the established classroom routine. We require that applicants have a content-specific undergraduate in education or a masters degree in education and classroom teaching experience. All applicants must have a commitment to inclusion practices.
