Job Description Functional Responsibility:

Develop and test logical and physical database designs.
Review logical and physical designs of existing databases and perform tuning, in coordination with the senior database engineer, to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
Perform data analysis, database design, development activities, and implementation, as directed, for databases and database conversions. Perform database-restructuring activities.
Work with users and information systems development staff to determine data storage and access requirements.

Operations and Maintenance (O&M)

Perform system modification and enhancements
Provide operational support as defined in the operational procedures
Modify/cleanup data, generate ad hoc reports, process data imports/exports, and train users
Requests for changes shall be documented, evaluated, developed, tested and implemented in planned releases. All work products including requirements, design code, test documentations, user documentation and operational documentation shall be updated and tested.
Document change requests in Service Center, updated system documentation, and documentation supporting the operational activities.

Infrastructure Support

Maintain the operating systems for the z10 enterprise servers, i.e., zOS and SuSE Linux
Maintain the system software products that run on the enterprise servers, e.g., Tivoli Storage Manager, Natural, Adabas, WebSphere, CICS, etc.
Maintain the system software products that run on other enterprise hardware, e.g., enterprise tape silos, z10 enterprise server configuration management and performance monitoring/tuning, including interface with the enterprise SAN
Maintain and support the red Hat Linux OS, AIX OS, and the Solaris OS and related system software products on enterprise virtualized environments and physical servers
Maintain the enterprise Controlled Interfaces
Provide Tier 3 support for the Windows OS client on all enclaves. Maintain the enterprise JBOSS and WebSphere application server environments
Lead the Data Center Disaster Recovery (DCDR) for the enterprise servers
Plan and schedule the installation of new or modified hardware, operating system and application software
Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment
Manage systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability
Implement security procedure and tools
Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures
Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems
Ensure systems availability, functionality, integrity and efficiency
Maintain systems configuration and manages the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and enhancements
Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.

Data Center Support

Operational IT support to projects within ITSD Data Centers
Management, operation, and analysis of ITB’s enterprise servers and IT components
Consolidation and virtualization initiatives for ITSD Data Centers
Online job scheduling, submission and tracking for enterprise servers

IT Hardware Deployments

Assist the FBI with the installation and maintenance of IT hardware and equipment in ITSD’s Data Centers
